New Cover for “The Spooky Chronicles: The Crooked Man”

The first book of “The Spooky Chroncicles” called “The Crooked Man” is available now for $3.99 at Smashwords.com for whatever eBook reader you have (Kindle, iBooks, Nook, Kobo, Sony, PDF) or even just on your computer.

Here’s the new cover replacing the original. I like to call it “Beneath the Hoodie” or “Spooky in the Stacks.” I love the front of the book shop with the hooded kid (it will continue to be on the Spooky Chronicles website), but happy, creepy, little dead boy inside the bookshop pretty much says everything I wanted to about introducing this character. If you’d like to see the full-size version, click the image or click here to go to the book page on Smashwords.

If you haven’t seen it yet, click and watch the series ebook trailer.

Spooky: the Dead Little Boy Who Continued to Grow Up

On sale now for one measly dollar ($1.00) at horror.drivethrustuff.com for your PDF reader or iBooks.

At the age of six, the pale little boy became ill, and although he was already small and thin, he grew smaller and thinner still. His skin turned a pallid gray, but the smile never left his face and his mother never left his side. When he turned seven, the tumor in his chest finally overtook his heart, and he died.

It is whispered that everyone dies alone. But the pale little boy wasn’t alone when he died, and on the other side, he met a crooked man with a crooked stick who pointed at the dead little boy with a crooked finger. The dead little boy opened his eyes only to find those of his mother closed. Somehow he knew that his mother had taken his place and that the crooked man had caused it; what he didn’t know was why.

Sixty Days to Halloween

Normally, I post something like this on August 1st, but support on this has been down this year (I’m talking to YOU, retailers.) With the so-called summer blockbuster season of films spent and kiddies back in school, it’s time to get spooky.

As hobby stores go, Garden Ridge used to be first out of the gate with new decorations and such, but due to being restructured in bankruptcy, it’s hard to roll out new stuff with only a quarter of the staff remaining. Your local Hobby Lobby and other craft stores should be caught up by now while Walmart and Target will start setting up as those local Spirit Halloween shops start to appear.

I haven’t seen anything new or must have for the $100 and below set this year. And (credit goes to Brett for this observation) why does EVERY fake tombstone have to say “R.I.P” on it? Halloween is on a Sunday this year, and a weekend day is always nice for setup. I’ve got four flame projectors to play with this year (acquired during the after holiday sales last year), so I intend to light the entire yard on fire!

What are you playing to do to get a few screams this year?

Meet the Mascots!

When I go to a convention, it’s usually not with the intent of blowing a lot of cash. About once per year, I allot a little to find something cool to add to my growing collection of spooky “cursed” objects. This year, I found these three guys (on the right) just hanging around, and I just had to take ’em home.

I’ve put them all over the links pages (because that’s about as evil as they come). Enjoy!
